What the new face of the white house may mean for you!

We have to make a choice. The best course of action would be to make an informed choice. We, in the United States are in the throws of a presidential election. Yet each day I am concerned that the chances of the electorate making an informed choice are very slim. On my daily commute on the MARTA, and no there was no Soulja Girl on board to harass anyone, actually there is rarely an incident of that nature occurring on MARTA as the news would have you believe it happens all too often, but I digress. I was reading an article on about Sen. Obama and a woman sitting next to me remarked that she is praying that he wins, because we need him in there to stop the war. When she said we, I inferred she was primarily speaking about Black people then the rest of the country. She said that “this is Bush’s war not ours.” I then responded that Bush did in fact want the war for his personal wealth, and the wealth of his financial backers. I told her there are a lot of businesses making huge amounts of money profiting from the war. I asked her if she had any idea who or what big business was backing Sen. Obama? She quickly retorted none it’s all on the people. We soon reached her destination, she got up glanced back at me with a look of “that man is crazy but I can refute what he has said” I felt deeply that we are in serious trouble if this is the common belief of the electorate.

Most of you that are running out to vote for “A change we can believe in” have not taken the time to ask yourself what the change will be. Will there really be a change? I have pondered one such change. Margaret Kimberley of Freedom Rider writing for the Black Agenda Report puts it this way “ A Barack Obama presidency would certainly be a first - the first time that "most black people will end their historic progressive politics and applaud this country's criminal activity just because the head criminal looks like them."

The world has given Black people a “pass” on the terrorism front (for the most part), but with the ascension of Sen. Obama as the “new” face of the United States it’s less likely we will continue that luxury. Its more likely President Obama will continue the “War on Terror” possibly intensifying the effort under the umbrella of ending the war sooner. Most often when these efforts intensify the non combatants suffer even more. This will not bode well for Black people since the one working the evil will have a face like us. So how will this affect us? Black people are voting to the tune of 90% primarily to see a Black face in the white house.  Have they considered the ramification? Since the “educated” are one of the other forces that are supporting the Senator from Illinois, I then ask what is the meaning of education? Is it to follow without question? Is it to “hope” without thinking?

STATE SANCTIONED MURDERERS WILL CONTINUE TO WALK THE STREETS

These detectives shot a total of 50 rounds killing Sean Bell the early morning before his wedding in Queens New York in November of 2006.  A judge acquitted these beast of all charges this morning in a New York courtroom.  Once again the state has shown its willingness to allow the expansion and protection of the ever growing police state in the United States of America.  Will Sen. Obama miss this opportunity to speak about the state of Blacks in the U.S.?  Maybe for Sen. Obama, and others that want to turn a blind eye to the conditions of Black people here in the U.S, will explain it away by saying this was not a racial incident since two of the detectives are Black.  Never the less, this is another blatant example of murder under the color of the authority of a badge.  Racism is not only expressed by the overt placing of nooses by whites on trees or anywhere else, but also by Blacks and anyone would that destroy, demean or assonate the character of people of color then hide under racist laws for protection.

The hatchets come out swinging!

Let me state for the record; I am NOT an Obamaholic!  Last night's debate, if you want to call it that was the first time that I have actually seen Sen. Obama being attacked.  George Stephanopoulis and Charlie Gibson sounded as if they had marching orders from Sean Hannity or Michael Savage to bring out the hatchets and begin hacking at the knees of Sen. Obama with questions about absoutley nothing.  Oil passed over $115.00 per barrel last night and Charlie Gibson begins the debate with a question about a darn American flag lapel pin???  This smacks in the face of U.S. citizens struggling with the high price of gasoline, not to mention the highest increase in the cost of food since 1991!!.   But, these "credible" journalist persisted on to ask Senator Obama silly questions about a man and a group of "American terrorist" that exploded some bombs back in 1969, that actually killed three of their own people.  But, here is the super rub; Ayers is now a university professor (bet this won't be in the cards of the Liberty City 7), and the acts occured when Senator Obama was EIGHT years old!!!!!  And these "credible" journalist want to take shots at the blogshpere.  Gibson and Stephanopoulis both launched a very weak two pronged attack on the Sen. from Illinois, aiming at his blackness by slinging silly questions about the dead subject of Rev. Wright's comments and trying to somehow associate him with his once terrorist neighbor Bill Ayers who made some disparaging remarks after the 9/11 attacks on the Twin Towers, which was a back handed attack on his possible Islamic schooling.

As much as Senator Obama has tried to avoid race as an issue, the white mainstream media is going to be ever increasingly pointed on the subject as we inch closer to the Democrat's convention.  The media was once a cheering section for Sen. Obama, all "fronting" like they were on the Obama train, now we see the beginning of the hatchet work.  White media, mainstream media, have a historical track record of building up one of the black folk they express their pretend love for, then when the time is right, bang!  The first blow to bring down the false giant they inflated is thrown.  Barak Obama is a media candidate, a Black media candidate, and will be bashed with hits from every direction with the negative nonsense they call "credible" journalism.

Smells Like the Patriot Act in Action

A second mistrial has been declared in the case of the so called Liberty City Terrorist, Narseal Batiste, Stanley Phanor, Naudimar Herrera, Patrick Abraham, Lyglenson Lemorin, Rothschild Augustine, and Burson Augustin.  The first mistrial came in December of 2007 when a jury deadlocked declaring a mistrial on six of the defendants and actually aquitting one, Lyglenson Lemorin.  Mr. Lemorin was totally aquitted but, he is still sitting in prison.  Thats right aquitted, but not free.  These men have been sitting in prison since June of 2006, been tried twice and the jury has deadlocked twice, the most recent mistrial being declared today. 

In June 2006 Narseal Batiste was accused of planning a "Miami Jihad", after meeting with a man of Middle Eastern descent who was in fact an FBI informant that informed them that Mr. Batiste was a real threat.  Mind you, these men never aquired weapons of any kind, never actually met with Al-Qaeda members, never had any blueprints of a terrorist nature, and had no explosives, only the word of paid informants with serious credibility issues.  Was Mr. Narseal really trying to pull of a terrorist act against the U.S.? Or trying to "gank" some money from men whom he thought were the real deal Al-Qaeda agents?  It appears the juries believed he was trying to scam monies to the tune of $50,000 from these informants.  Mr. Narseal was a small time contractor that employed young Black men, practiced martial arts with them, conducted prayers with them and may have been submitting some lessons from the Moorish Science Temple's point of view, but terrorist No!  Stupid, YES!

Our government is in the process of exercising the rules of engagement of the Patriot Act.  Even, when the government loses its case, against the "poor" men of Liberty City, FL or the "rich" in the case of Wesely Snipes they will not relent.  They will not concede to the loss and continue to persue efforts for a conviction.  Its very difficult to win a trial against the U.S. government, thus in the case where the defendants contend and win their case it seems the government would allow the defendants to walk free. However,   government attorneys are reviewing the mistrial to consider trying these men a THIRD time, probably to force a conviction.  Just as they are about to stick Wesley Snipes with a maximum three year sentence and a $5 million dollar fine for his conviction of failing to pay taxes. Remember he beat all the felony charges sought against him by the Federal government this last February.

Tavis Quits TJMS; Fallout from political immaturity, maybe!

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Tavis Smiley quits the Tom Joyner Morning Show!!! According to Joyner Tavis has too much on his plate to continue doing commentary on TJMS…..Uh, yeah right. C’mon Tavis cut the bull, it’s more likely the verbal beat downs you were taking on the air became too much. But, what does this say about us? As I have said before its political immaturity sitting over the Black population like a London fog, its quite ugly and it needs to cease and desist NOW! Black people are voting for Sen. Obama to the tune of some 90%, and yet anyone that won't join Obamamania is derided as a handkerchief head, bowing & scraping plantation loving neegrow. For instance check what happened when my man at Ghetto Proverbs posed a hypothetical question concerning Barak Obama and Karl Rove. I am amazed at the venom that spews from the mouths, pens and keyboards of some Black folk.

Tavis, though some of the ‘New Neegrows” as they call themselves, are giving out the serious tongue lashings, I would have thought you had a tougher epidermis than you’re displaying. Too much on your plate. I seriously doubt that brotha. I would've hoped you would have stayed around and admonished the mind state of some Neegrows that feel they have the right to call other Black folk slave minded, instead of critical thinkers about the presidency this time around.  And, not just running to jump on the Obama-train out of the shear emotion of seeing “those little Black girls running and playing it the white house.”

Many of us have our opinions and often they don’t set well with others. But, hell that’s just what they are OPINIONS. This should be expected and understood as we are NOT a monolithic people. And unfortunately in this election Black people are showing a level of political immaturity that I would have never expected. I am in shock at the way we are behaving as a people. There is no reason I should believe the our icons of the past, Dr. King, El Hajj Malik El Shabazz, Huey P. Newton, Kwame Toure and others would have readily been on the Obama train. I am not so sure any of them would have been a supporter. Yet, somehow the “New Neegrow” attempts to pressure some of us by saying just this.  I am yet disappointed in Mr. Smiley for not defending his right to speak his mind.  But, the man has to make his own decisions for his peace of mind.
