Slumdog Governor?

Piyush "Bobby" Jindal is  obviously being raised up as the Republican front runner to possibly faceoff with President Obama in the next go round of presidential politics.  Its so shameful how these politicians will slit the throats of their citizens (saying he will refuse stimulus funds) to gain an elected office.  It is a fact that the Louisiana legislature can and more than likey will accept the funds without the consent of governor Jindal.  This stance by the "good" governor is purely political posturing.  Is Jindal the best that Michael Steele can come up with?  Governor Jindal shuffled to the mirophone like an old worn man, then proceeded to give his biography as to how he came to be an U.S. citizen after his parents immigrated here from India when his mother was four months pregnant.  This smacks as the new in thing by darker skinned politicians, to announce how their parents so loved this country that they raised their only begotten son to so love America as to take political office to show how great this place is.  It all sounds like contrived bull hockey to get into office.  It smells much like the European American song of how "my fadda came here wit nuttin" and raised himself to the stature that he is today.  Are U.S. citizens so naive as to possibly vote this guy into office?

Hi Victor,
As a person who was born, raised, and educated in New Orleans I found the gov's remark very Louisiana -ian in nature. I'm so accustomed to political posturing and back door dealings and not believing the lies that it seemed like a sick joke instead of a speech.

How can Jindhal be the best the Republicans have to offier when he can't work with the mayor to get New Orleans' infrastructure rebuilt? And to hear him invoke the name of racist Chinese American former sheriff Harry Lee as if he were doing something good - OMG! It's frightening whenever I visit that cesspool of a city. I stay indoors, but this is no guarantee of safety. Last year I was there for 9 days and never saw one police officer, not one and I knew I would never visit that place again. I don't go anywhere while I'm there.

Jindahl needs to handle business in his own state. There is much work to be done.

How much more can this country handle?

Hey HG, I hope you're feeling better. This is great information you provide, since this is your home state and you have information that most would not. I remember at the end of the Republican Convention Michael Steele was interviewed, and I'm not sure by whom, but he stated very clearly that the Republican party was going to have to do something about the racial disparity within the party or he would be looking to leave the party.

Well now, we see he was saying this to gain leverage within in the party. Obviously he is since he is now the chairman of the RNC. So, now, in his effort to show diversity he offers up Piyush Jindal (Bobby is a name he created for himself) as the front runner? This is absurd. I'm no fan of the Republican party as they are exposing themselves more and more as a party that cares little for the everyday working woman or man. But, it seems strange to me that the RNC would bypass J.C. Watts. As you noted above Jindal has a lot to be disired.

Governor Jindal continues his quest to be the 2012 Republican party nominee, while New Orleans and the state continues to decline. He really should pay more attention to the needs of the people that elected him and stop trying to be the Republican golden boy. Now that his party has rejected him, you would expect the Rhode Scholar to realize his chances of getting the nomination are zero. He should accept the 90 million dollars he turned down and start paying attention to how he can help Louisiana.

We don’t need a Governor who rejects everything based on party, we get enough of that from the likes of Limbaugh and Hannity. We need leaders who are paying attention to our problems, such as bigger and better levees, more jobs for the state, better schools and of course, bringing back New Orleans.

W. J. Mears, thanks for coming by and offering your thoughts. Its actually a shame that party is greater than the people these days. Too bad those in power don't take the opportunity to do all they can to ensure that their constituency's are taken of and surely the people will take care ot them.
