Some Black My-story notes

Jamaican born Connie Matthews was employed by UNESCO in Copenhagen, Denmark.  In 1968 she helped to sponser Bobby Seal's visit to Scandinavia.  Later she became active in the Danish Committee for Solidarity with the Black Panther Party for Self Defense.  By 1969 Connie's dedication and enthusiasm for Black liberation she became the International Coordinator of the Black Panther Party in 1969.  She spent several months in the United States at Black Panther Headquaters, coordinating activities between European solidarity committees and the Black Panther Party, writing for the Black Panther, and speaking at several conferences.  You learn more about Connie Matthews and other Black Panthers in Charles Earl Jones' book THE BLACK PANTHERS RECONSIDERED.

Queen Charlotte Sophia Mecklenburg-Strelitz of Germany, was the wife of King George III of England (1738-1820), the grandmother of Queen Victoria and the great-great-great grandmother of the sitting Queen Elizabeth II of England today.  Charlotte Sophia was the daughter of Duke Charles Louis Mcklenburg-Strelitz, Prince of Mirow and Princess Elizabeth Albertine Hildburghausen Duchess of Saxony.  Queen Charlotte Sophia African features can be explained by six lines of her ancestry to Margarita de Castro Y Sousa a Moorish branch of the Portuguese Royal House.  Charlotte North Carolina is named after Queen Charlotte Sophia.  Read more about her here.

There will be much more coming this month as we bring out information of our history, or my-story it's no longer a mystery!

Love the Black History posts Ensayn!

I'm amazed that Charlotte finally accepted that she was black, took them a long time to get to that! There is a huge Queen Charlotte statue at the airport here in Charlotte, I think it's been here since 1990. So they're coming around...I guess.

I don't know if NC is admitting it. I have never flown into Charlotte, so does the statue have African features? Bet she doesn't.
